4 October 2012 - Aurecon has signed on as a Gold sponsor of the Financial Review Corporate Cycling Challenge (FRCCC) giving our people and our key clients the opportunity to ride with professional cyclists in separate events to be held in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne starting this month.
“Aurecon is proud to come on board for a second year. The FRCCC forms a key part of our staff and client engagement programme and is a unique event for the business community to participate in. It reinforces Aurecon’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and ties in with our work on sustainable transport projects,” said CEO Paul Hardy.
The FRCCC is the only event of its kind offering amateur cyclists the opportunity to compete with and against elite athletes. Aurecon has developed an extensive programme for all our riders and participants in the lead up to race day, including spin cycling sessions, training rides, and team breakfasts.
Now in its second year, the event promises to be an action packed, fun-filled day for all with professional riders from the Orica-GreenEdge cycling team - Australia’s first Tour de France team joining other celebrities and sporting stars.
“Time trial events are great fun and the FRCCC is opportunity for cyclists of all ability levels to get out there and give it a go,” said Koen de Kort, Tour cyclist with the Argos-Shimano team.
“Being involved in the FRCCC is a great thrill. After having won multiple world championships, to have the opportunity to ride with and against Australia’s leading national and international corporations in a team time trial format gives me a similar rush of adrenalin,” said Australian Olympic champion Shane Kelly.
“For Aurecon, this is more than just a cycling event. This is about building a ‘team’ with our valued clients both on and off the race course,” said Bill Glasgow, Melbourne Delivery Centre Manager.
