Aurecon recognised for HR excellence in Australia

Aurecon is a finalist in the AHRI awards

28 October 2016 - Today the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) announced the finalists in the 2016 AHRI Awards. Global engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Aurecon is delighted to have been named a finalist in two categories – Talent Development and Inclusive Workplace. The winners will be announced at the AHRI Awards night on 1 December in Melbourne, Australia.

The AHRI Awards recognise and celebrate HR excellence in Australia through categories ranging from Inclusion and Innovation, to Creativity, Disability employment, HR technology and more and aim to uphold HR industry standards with the Australian business community.

Aurecon’s Foundations of Leadership (FOL) programme is a finalist for the Marshall Goldsmith Award for Talent Development, and its Diversity and Inclusion programme is a finalist in the AHRI Inclusive Workplace Award category.

About Foundations of Leadership

Aurecon’s Foundations of Leadership programme is targeted at mid-level high potential staff and its goal is to develop exceptional leaders within the company. This high-impact talent development programme explores the three key pillars of success in a business environment: Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading the Business.

Liam Hayes, Aurecon’s Chief People Officer, says, “We recognise that our leaders have the greatest impact on our people’s careers and the success of our business. The FOL programme focuses on increasing the leadership capability of our emerging leaders. It is proving highly effective in building our pipeline for future leaders.”

“A unique aspect of FOL is the Community Project where programme participants put their learning and innovation into practice through collaborations with local communities. These ranged from exploring how to create better utilisation of open space for greater community use to how to attract a new generation of diverse engineers by working with primary schools with young girls and indigenous kids,” said Liam.

About Diversity and Inclusion

Aurecon’s Diversity and Inclusion programme embraces the attributes and language that leaders need to lead inclusively in the workplace.

“Aurecon believes an inclusive culture is essential for innovation. This can only be achieved in a work environment where everyone can feel respected, have a sense of belonging, and feel their contribution is valued. In Australia & New Zealand, our focus is on a number of diversity pillars, particularly gender, LGBTI, mental health and indigenous engagement,” says William Cox, Managing Director, Australia & New Zealand.

“We are delighted to be a finalist in the AHRI Awards and to have our work benchmarked against global best practice. All of our People programmes support our Future Ready focus and our passion for delivering exceptional projects for our clients through exceptional people. I congratulate our teams and the other finalists for the role they are playing in building great careers for people in Australia,” says Bill.
