Aurecon appoints new New Zealand Regional Director

Carl Devereux

Carl Devereux, Aurecon's Regional Director - New Zealand

03 March 2017 - With a passion for inclusive leadership and 22 years of experience in New Zealand, Carl Devereux has been appointed the new Regional Director – New Zealand at global engineering and infrastructure advisory company, Aurecon. In this role, Devereux will be responsible for the overall operation of the New Zealand business and takes over from Bruce Manners who has retired from the company.

“This role is integral to the continued success of Aurecon’s New Zealand business, and we believe Carl will be a strong contributor to Aurecon’s regional leadership team as we help our clients traverse a changing business landscape” says William Cox, Aurecon’s Managing Director – Australia & New Zealand.

Devereux has been Aurecon’s South Island Manager for the last five years and has been a driving force behind the growth and diversification of Aurecon’s Christchurch operation in response to the devastating earthquakes in 2011.

His close involvement in recovery operations after the earthquakes saw Devereux work with agencies such as Civil Defence, the Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority, and the public and private sector to work through some of the most complex challenges that our industry has faced in Christchurch. Under his leadership, Aurecon’s Christchurch business quadrupled in size from pre earthquake to post earthquake, playing a large part in New Zealand's financial success.

“One of my main focuses will be driving collaboration across our teams in New Zealand to bring the best of our thinking to the table,” says Devereux.

“I am passionate about inclusive leadership and will be driving diversity of thought as the best way to solve the most complex of challenges that our clients face today and in the future,” Devereux continues.

“As the pace of change accelerates, disrupting ‘business as usual’ across the engineering, property and infrastructure sectors, successful firms will be those able to harness the creativity of a cross disciplinary and cross culturally diverse workforce in order to deliver a competitive advantage,” he said.
