Proudest moment in your career?
Recent feedback from a key client that my strategic thinking and understanding of the wind market had helped them establish a strong position in the sector.
Your most challenging project? And why?
The Novera-Macquarie Renewable Energy transaction in the United Kingdom in 2004. Novera Energy Limited and Macquarie Bank Limited established a 50:50 joint venture to acquire and finance one of the largest diversified renewable energy portfolios in the UK.
I was responsible for the technical due diligence that supported the transaction and this deal was very technically and procedurally challenging. We were working under sustained intense pressure for a number of months and dealing with multiple stakeholders.
An essential key to innovative thinking? And why?
I find that great thinking occurs if engineers understand the commercial context and can see the way the client is thinking about the problem, and can explain in business terms to the client what technical solutions are available to them.
Keys to a successful project delivery?
Good dialogue before the project starts is key to making sure the proposed scope is actually going to deliver what the client really needs.
